Jack had been aiming for a cold-fusion cruiser, but should he have been that surprised when that wasn't where he ended up? Between his own tears and Gwen's tears as she had begged him to stay on Earth because she needed him, it wasn't unthinkable that a few wrong coordinates had accidentally been pressed into his vortex manipulator. Because, when Jack did land, he saw an all too familiar terrestrials sight before his eyes.
It was the Plass. He was in Cardiff, the one place that he had been specifically trying to get away from on Earth. Jack's tears had long since dried up but they threatened to start up again as he seemed unable to escape from the all too recent memories that were haunting him. Was he ever going to be able to escape this planet? Well, all he needed to do was punch in the coordinates again, this time making sure that they were entered correctly.
But, before he could even think about punching in the first numbers, something in his peripheral vision caught his eye. Where there should have been a giant crater in the ground, there wasn't. The Hub had blown up but there was no indication of that having happened here. Maybe he had traveled back into the past and nothing more than that? No. Jack was certain that he hadn't messed with the time controls of his vortex manipulator. There was no way it was possible that he had messed up his destination that badly.
The only other explanation was that this was a parallel Earth, another unlikely possibility, seeing as that travel between parallel worlds was supposed to be impossible under normal circumstances. He wanted to investigate the crater that was no longer a crater but, instead, found himself walking in quite the opposite direction towards the bay. He leaned up against the railing and stared out at the water. He knew he should leave but the thought that in this Cardiff there might be some version of him running around, mortal and carefree, took some of the strain off of his broken heart. At least there were some versions of him out there who didn't have to deal with what he had to.

ONE PUSH IS ALL YOU'LL NEED- - - - - - - - a fist first philosophy - - - - - - - -Tag: Jack Words: enough Lyrics: Diamond Eyes - Shinedown Outfit: here Notes: so excited!- - - - - - - - - - - - - It had been several months since he lost his lover. Ianto Jones would still wake up and think that Jack would walk in anytime but that was never the case. Even as the leader of Torchwood Three, he took over after Jack died, he was still the Tea Boy. There were times that Ianto would catch himself making Jack's usual cup of coffee then realize his mistake. He still blamed Jack's heroic nature that put him in that position to want to talk to the 456 in Thames House. No matter how much Ianto urged Jack to stay behind, he just wouldn't do it. He didn't understand these things like Ianto did. But as loyal as he was to Jack, he couldn't fight him on that for too long. He could still remember holding Jack while he died in his arms and how he said those three words. Ianto didn't want to hear them because it made Jack's death so real.
The team show a change in Ianto since that day. He would often run out of the Hub when the rift had a spike alone. Most days he wished that when he died that he could go and be with Jack but he always came back. It was the same bitter blackness that he has gotten used to. But now there was now Jack to console him when he awakes. There was a small rift spike and Ianto knew that he could handle it on his own since it wasn't that far from the Hub. Of course, Toshiko, being Toshiko, called him to make sure he didn't need any help. He walked to where the spike seemed to be and only found a little piece of space junk. Nothing exciting. Tosh would have a fun time trying to figure out what it could have been. He put it in his pocket and headed back towards the Hub.
He walked to the Plass and his phone rang again. Smiling slightly to himself, he answered it. "Yes, Tosh." He said into the phone knowing good and well that it was her. "No. Just a little piece of junk. Just something that you can fill in your time with when you come in tomorrow." He laughed softly when Tosh had such eagerness in her tone when she replied. He saw a figure standing against the railing looking out towards the bay. At first he didn't think anything about it. But the RAF coat caught his attention. Even mortal, Jack had that exact same coat. Something his Great Grandfather passed down to him. "Tosh, I have to call you back." He muttered before hanging out. He took a deep breath and walked a little closer to the figure. "Um..hello?" He said loud enough for the stranger to hear him. His heart was already beating wildly in his chest but he couldn't, he wouldn't, give in to false hope. It just could be someone else that had an exact coat like Jack had.
